Poupourri, the Mime (green) Spider, the Magician (blue) Riela, the Lion Tamer (pink) Elise, the Tightrope Walker (purple) Anton, the Drummer (brown) Ai and J'aime, the Twins (orange) _____________________________________________________ This is a story about a travelling group of performers~ The main leader is Spider, and he eventually finds all these lost people, who join his troupe. The all have obstacles to overcome, and Spider hopes their time in the troupe will be helpful! =D REGULAR FORMS These are the original roles/stories for each troupe member Poupourri: age ⁞ 15 eyes ⁞ pink hair ⁞ yellow green Poupourri is a sweet and pleasant presence. She likes to observe others and discover new things. At home, she constantly got into trouble for not being a productive member of the family. Her siblings worked hard to help their parents tend to the grain farm, while Poupourri wandered around on her expeditions around the farm and nearby town. Her father finally had enough and sent her away to work in a tailor's shop in the town. However, Poupourri was a distracted worker and was fired within a few days. She purchased a roll of fabric and some needles and made her current outfit. Spider found her doing mime acts across from the bakery where she was hoping to buy some sandwiches with the change from the passersby. Hopefully, Spider will be able to teach her about responsibility and develop a good work ethic! Anton: age 14 Light brown hair Yellow-green eyes Anton is a drummer. When he was young, he was lost in a marketplace. Already feeling fearful from not seeing his grandmother anywhere, he began running through the crowds and looked for her. He suddenly stumbled in front of a butcher, chopping up his meats, which severely frightened the young boy. And then Anton shut his eyes to the world, afraid of what he might see. Spider found Anton wandering the streets one day, with his eyes still closed. He had some mice following him, squeaking when Anton walked near an obstacle. Spider gave him a drum set so he could at least enjoy playing with something he could hear. In the troupe, Anton and his mice go through obstacles while playing the drum and with his eyes closed of course. Personality: He's quiet and pretty nervous~ And it takes a while to gain his trust because he can only interpret something by its sound and feel. He doesn't see for himself whether something is there or not, and so he will ask others for help. He worries that one day no one will help him. With time, he begins to lose his fear of the world around him and opens his eyes~! ^ u ^ ///// J'aime (White) and Ai (Black) Age 19 Red-orange hair Golden yellow eyes The twins, Ai and J'aime have always been bickering twin sisters. This pair of characters symbolizes pride and stubborness. When they were young, the twins had short hair and were fighting over some project they were working on. Eventually, they knocked each other over and somehow got superglue in their hair. Neither wanted to have their hair sheared off, so the years went by and their hair became ever longer. Although their personalities clashed and they disliked being together all the time, neither will initiate getting a haircut. They are able to have more distance between each other as time passes and their hair grows longer, but now it's unclear if they remain attached because of pride or whether they finally accept each other's company. In the circus, they do duets, singing together~! It's the only time that they work together (very well, might I add!) Spider stumbled into them when he visited a cafe and they started arguing about who saw him first and why the other would not be suitable to approach him first. Riela and Cassius the Lion age ⁞ 14 eyes ⁞ yellow/amber hair ⁞ pink Riela is a young circus performer. Her dad was the Ringmaster of a successful and large travelling circus, but he died during a show when the animals in the ring got frightened by a fireracker set in the audience and they trampled on him. It is unknown whether the firecracker was set on purpose or not. The Ringmaster had rivals in the business... She has a pet lion named Cassius who's not very ferocious at all. She thinks she's really tough cause she doesn't get hurt by the lion. Riela can be bossy and feels self-important. She is upset when people treat her like a child (she acts childish sometimes as a result haha) In the circus, Riela does some acrobatics, along with showing off her Lion's skills at jumping through hoops and moving through obstacles. She also has a whip, but it's not used on her lion at all!!! (no way jose!) It's to grab items like chairs or hoops across the stage and to direct Cassius to the next part of the performance on stage. He is so large that she can sit on his back while he walks around~:) Spider age ⁞ 27 eyes ⁞ red hair ⁞ light blue Spider is a kind travelling magician who recruits the outcasts into his show. He gets the nickname Spider because he is always "catching" stragglers -- adolescents who have troubles in their lives and are very unhappy. He lets them escape from their real lives for a short time as they help him perform in the travelling show. He hopes they will open up and accept that they have the power to be in charge of the show that is their lives. He looks out for others all the time. Elise age: 25 hair: lavender eyes: silver gray Elise was once a theatrical actress, known for her liveliness and exuberance of joy onstage, and had eloped with her lover. Her family was wealthy and reputable. Her lover was a fellow actor, but he was from the lower class and her parents forbade her from seeing him or else they would refuse to see her again. The couple eventually earned enough money from the theatre to move to a small town and make a modest living that was simple but happy. Four years after their daughter was born, the husband died from a workplace accident. Her child became ill with scarlet fever and did not survive. As quick as lighting, Elise was struck by two terrible tragedies. She fell into a stupor and it has not quite lifted since then. As she mourned for her family, no body in the small, isolated town cared for her. She lost her job as a flower arranger when she did not show up for work. It was hard for her to find another employer because she could no longer find a source of happiness to give her inspiration and motivation to present herself as confident and eager to work. One day, a travelling circus troupe arrived in the town. They were a colourful bunch and lively too! Elise watched them curiously from the window of a closed down shop, where she lived after losing her house because she could no longer afford the monthly payments. A green-haired girl noticed the sullen face in the window and made exaggerated pointing gestures in its direction. One by one, the members of the group looked in Elise's direction and waved at her. Elise blinked, surprised, as no one had spared her a single glance in the few months that had passed since her family was gone. She raised one shaky hand in reply. Smiles and laughter twinkled back towards her and the nostalgic sounds teasingly tugged on the corners of her lips. She slid away from the window and laid down on her cot, trying to keep the faces of her loved ones alive in her memory. That night, a knock echoed throughout the old shop. It was the circus troupe! Elise could see them through the glass door. She quietly opened the door and it was the tall, blue-haired man who spoke to her first. He had a calm, baritone voice -- which she imagined could carry his words a long distance... He invited her to join his troupe. She could take part in their act and see the world with them. She would be able to eat and live with them. She could be a part of their family. Elise's throat clenched at the mention of family. She had once gained a new family, but she had lost it all too soon. What will happen if she gains this new family? Would she survive losing it again? In the end, Elise accepted, convinced by the smiling faces and warm inviting voices. Her part in the troupe Elise is the Highwire, tight rope walker. She chose this act for its risks and feelings of exhilaration at completion of walking the length of the wire. The journey across is perilous but Elise does not feel fear. If she falls, she will see her old family. If she makes it across, she will be greeted by her new family. She is usually watching over Anton and Riela as they are the youngest children in the troupe. Her personality is reserved and sensitive. She listens intently to the others, and is a source of comfort during sad times. She is like the counsellor for the troupe, despite her own sad memories. She gradually becomes more lively and happy as her time with the troupe increases. She sometimes shows a flash of her old charming smile. PARALLEL FORMS (dark skin and eyes) These are the literal versions of each character's role in the regular troupe : ) Poupourri: Unlike her usual chatty self, her voice box has been removed (there is a bloody slit across her throat) She cannot speak, so she can only mime. Anton: Unlike his normal self, who is so afraid of seeing the world that he keeps his eyes shut tight, he has no eyes in this form. Empty eye sockets in his face~ J'aime and Ai: The twins that can't bear to be with each other in the regular story, now are conjoined twins, sharing the same body from the neck down. Riela: The girl who acts tough and thinks of herself as dangerous and intimidating, is now a feral version that can truly pose a threat to anyone standing within 20 feet. She is easily triggered by sound and light to begin a ferocious attack on whoever disturbed her. She has sharp nails and fangs to attack with. Her uncontrollable outbursts of anger are very sudden. Elise: Her life has been turned upside down in her regular story, so filled with sadness and being out of balance. In this form, she is obsessed with balancing things and if something is out of balance she will go into a slight frenzy, trying to 'fix' it. She teeters on sanity and madness, life and death, as she walks across the tight-rope. |
